Freemasonry

Because Masonry welcomes all men of whatever religion and thus practices toleration, the distinction between religion and Masonry needs to be made. Religion asserts authority, but Masonry Counsels introspection and reflection on the great mysteries of the human condition. Masonry asserts no authority as to creeds, submits no prophets for judgment, offers no writings from God and reveals no divine truths beyond simple morality. It has no priesthood, demands no fixed tithe, dictates no sacraments and coerces no one with threats of eternal punishment beyond ones own conscience. It offers no Redeemer, teaches no dogma, demands no obedience except simple morality and courtesy and contends with no just government. Masonry is tolerant and even supportive of the most diverse religious beliefs. Religion has often divided men, but Masonry reaffirms the brotherhood of man. If this is religion, it is only the most primitive kind and gives no reason for offense except by the power of its own virtues.

Freemasonry in West Puget Sound

The early history of the growth of Masonry in the West Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula regions is closely linked to the early growth of the Timber industry and later in Kitsap County to the growth in the Naval ship building and maintenance facility presence. An overview of Masonry and the history of the Lodges in this region is available HERE.

There are 12 Lodges in the Kitsap, North Mason, and  North Pierce Tri-County region on West Puget Sound. These Lodges originally comprised District 12. In 2005, District 12 was split and a new District 3 was established with 5 Lodges that are situated south of Bremerton, Washington. District 12 now consists of the 7 Lodges that are situated in Bremerton, North Kitsap and on Bainbridge Island. See the map on the left. Click on the map to see more information. You can visit these Lodges websites by selecting from the menu option "Visit Us" above.

The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Washington consists of over 180 Masonic lodges which are divided into districts. Each district has a Deputy appointed by the Grand Master. Contact information for the Deputies is available HERE.
