Introduction and Overview

The Freemasons are members of a Fraternal Organization dedicated to making good men better and thereby making the community better.

Wm. H. Upton Naval & Military Lodge was chartered in 1915. The early members included many men who made significant impact locally, nationally, and internationally. These included: Colonel Pendleton, Captain Robert E. Coontz, who was later to become Chief of Naval Operations for the US Navy. Brother Luther E. Gregory was the first chartered Master of the Lodge. Admiral Gregory during and after his illustrious Naval career performed important services for Masonry.

Charleston Lodge was chartered in 1926 by Edwin E. Wright and others. In 1995 Charleston Lodge and Wm. Upton Lodge merged. Both these Lodges have close ties to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington.

Masters Word

Greetings from the Master.

Another month has gone by, our March stated went well as I was told. Unfortunately I could not be there as I had other more pressing commitments. Our SW Bro Roberto sat in the East and did a marvelous job. We were very grateful that we could honor Worthy Brother Harvey Hubert with his 55 year pin. The ceremony was well received. Our District Deputy and Secretary gave a presentation on sponsoring a Masonic Night at the Bremerton Symphony. It should be not only a profitable night but also another chance for us to get the face of Masonry before the public.

Brethren, think of your Lodge, think of your Brothers, those of you who haven't been in Lodge in quite awhile. Maybe you forgot the basics we can help, we can get a Rusty Mason degree together. If you have had a problem in Lodge call me let's work it out, if it is a transportation problem Brothers; hell I don't drive and I have to rely on the support of my Brothers to get me to lodge and other functions. The point I am trying to make Brothers is there is no problem that is insurmountable that we can't overcome together. We would love to see you all back in lodge.

fraternally,

WB BJ

The lodge was opened on the third degree of Masonry, and immediately called to off session to award our Bro.Hubert Harvey the 55 year pin and certificate, we had few guests and prospective candidates.

VWB James Kendall discussed about the upcoming fund raising event that will occur sometime November, its going to be great and more fun it will include dinner and symphony music such as orchestra, a unique and unforgettable experience, plan to attend and make your reservations early.

Brethren keep in your prayers Bro.Jake Pursey,WB Stephen Quance,WB Hank Carman, and WB Mark Bray for their speedy recoveries.

Special thanks WB Eric Hunter who took the Junior Warden place, WB Darrel Harris as Chaplain, WB Larry Hoback as Marshall, last but not least the Jobs Daughters that prep-up the tables, dinning utensils, salad, coffee, and drinks...

From the level,

Bro Roberto

We had a good crowd for our stated meeting. It was suppose to be the chili cook-off but Roberto and I were the only ones to bring chili. Bro Larry Hoback bought two buckets of KFC which added to the meal. There was bread, crackers and butter, cookies for desert. Thanks to the Job's daughters for setting the tables and clean up. As far as the chili went there were no leftovers so I guess it must have been good or everyone was hungry. WB BJ is doing better as far as his health goes and so is Bro. Hank Carman, I haven't heard about brother Mark Bray. Keep them all in your prayers. Next month I will try to think of something a little more exciting for our meal. Think good thoughts and keep the peace. JW Dick

A busy April Stated set the stage for an even busier May stated.

The brethren elected Mr. Justin Morrow to recieve the degrees. The EA degree will be conferred on Mr. Morrow on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 starting at 6:30 pm.

The April Stated included the reading of 5 petitions for the degrees! We are going to be very busy for the next several months.

Set aside the evening of November 17 for a full evening of special events from a special dinner at the Temple, to exciting music by the Bremerton Symphony, capped by a reception for the Musicians, Board of Directors and season sponsors of the Bremerton Symphony Association.

Our annual Armed Forces Day pancake breakfast is set for Saturday May 19. Plan on coming down to join us for a fun morning.
